Good Morning.
Following the death of my 10 year old laptop and still having the Win 7 Pro 64 retail DVD.
My new PC has no operating system but all the drivers have been preloaded.
I will be installing Win7 Pro and just want to check if the following is required after reading this on the ASUS web site, "Based on the chipset specification, Skylake (H110/H170/Z170/B150/Q150/Q170) and Braswell platform require USB 3.0 drivers to be preloaded in order to use USB keyboard/mouse during Windows 7 installation."

My first question is, is my chipset a Skylake? I have USB3 and USB2 sockets on my PC so do I have to do the above if my chipset is Skylake?

My second question is, after installing Win 7 Pro 64 will I have to reinstall all the mother board drivers and other drivers?

Thank you.
REgards.
Roger

Hello and welcome Roger you sure you mean Skylake because that cPU is a Kabylake unless I very much mistaken.

Hello.

Thank you, that has answered my question.
My chipset is not a Skylake but a Kabylake.
That then means I do not have to do the following "Based on the chipset specification, Skylake (H110/H170/Z170/B150/Q150/Q170) and Braswell platform require USB 3.0 drivers to be preloaded in order to use USB keyboard/mouse during Windows 7 installation." To make the USB3 ports work when I install Win 7Pro 64 on my PC.
Regards
Roger

Welcome to the forum Roger.
- Your i5 7600k is an unlocked Kabylake. Internal graphics is 630, not 530.
- Your Asus has a H110 Skylake chipset that doesn't allow to overclock, that means that you won't be able to overclock the i5 7600k.
- I don't think that your budget H110 MB is the right MB to a i5 7600k unlocked Kabylake. The right MB should have a Z170 or Z270 chipset.
- Fist thing you must do is to update your ASUS® H110-T BIOS to be compatible with Kabylake.
- Skylake and Kabylake chipsets require the USB3 drivers. That means that you will have to modify the Win 7 installation disk to add them or you won't have mouse and /or keyboard. Use the Asus program to do it. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/ASUS_EZ_Installer_V10306.zip?_ga=2.264093391.2114843685.1496936803-1416867300.1496936803
For more information, read my tutorial - Create a Windows 7 USB flash installation with new drives for new MB's - Windows 7 Help Forums
- Make sure the keyboard and mouse are attached to the USB 2 near the PS2 keyboard connector.
- On BIOS, you will have to disable secure boot and fast boot and set CSM (Compatible system mode) to enable.
- Boot the modified Win 7 installation disk in UEFI to install Win 7 on UEFI - GPT mode.

Yep Mega is right mate and I think the Z270 chipset boards if I am not mistaken again has issues with running Windows 7 - I could be wrong with that though.

Personally after having a clockable set up myself I can see no advantage in having an unlocked CPU unless you intend to run the high end games etc or like some for the hell of it.

My main machine board has just died and when I renew it I am going a Z170 and a plain Skylake i5 or i7 - fast enough for me .
