This is a very new HP Envy 4-1030 Ultrabook, with 500G SATA, and 80G SSD. I upgraded to 8 right away, and it hosed the machine. Long story short, I have the Drives wiped, and no partitions. I tried to install 7 Ultimate, with UEFI, and normal Optical Drive install. ( External ) Each time, it pauses after starting install, the drive shuts down, and it says I need to load more drivers. I have bugged around, for drivers, but I get blank stares. If the drive worked to start install, why does it need more drivers. Is it due to the HDD/SSD architecture of this machine? I believe I should install the OS on the SSD.

Thanks in advance for the help. I could just throw this machine back at HP, but I really want to get 7 Ult. on it.

Thanks for the post. I will get a larger USB drive, and try this. I will post back on results. I downloaded all the drivers from HP too. If I can get it to install, I should be able to get it going all the way. Am I right, Put the OS on the SSD? tr

OK, after some attempts, I got install to start again with the 2 disc HP Recovery disks. It got to the point it said the computer would restart several times.....

At restart, it only comes up to BSOD, iastor.sys problem. I will try to post log if I can.

When I tried to boot with UEFI, it worked, With my 7 Ultimate, but it still asked for drivers for the Storage, I loaded drivers from HP site, to USB. But, when I browse to USB, I could not see the drivers.

More fun than a Human Being should have!
