installing windows 7 from usb 2.0 or sata 2.0 dvd: what's faster?

I have a bootable usb2 thumb drive with win7 and a dvd with the same win7 iso burned to it.
What would be the faster install method?
The dvd appears to hang at times whereas the usb took a long time to load the initial files from the bios.

Is there a clear winner in the installation speed of these two methods?

Depends on the USB stick. Either one is fast enough if you burned/wrote it correctly.

Dont think there would be a major difference, i would think that sata speeds would prevail but i generally do it from usb and doesnt seem to take any longer as its only the initial load times that are really affected

I have done several USB installs with 8GB & 16GB Computer Memory & fairly fast AMD CPU's usualy 10 to 15 minutes start to finish.

In my limited experience, installing from a USB stick is much faster than from a DVD. It appears to be true even for a slowish USB 2 stick as compared to a SATA DVD drive.

I have done quite a few clean installs and at least on my PC, a USB2 flashdrive is faster than my SATA DVD drive.
