I am trying to install the latest audio driver for the Intel® Desktop Board DG965SS under Windows 7 Beta x64.

Intel® Desktop Board DG965SS Audio: IDT* 92XX Driver

However, when it goes to configure the driver I get the error:
Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.

I get this running the installer in normal and compatibility modes.

Any help on how to get around this error, or a point in the right direction for the correct driver would be greatly appreciated. Merci beaucoup !

Yeh, thats what it did for mine as well...which is fine to just hear sound.
However, I need Stereo Mix, Line In, Mic, etc. that requires an audio driver

I tried the RealTek driver, but that did nothing, as expected. :[

Solution

Well, i found a relatively easy fix....
Step 1:
Ok, first you need to copy the sound driver files
off the cd that came with your motherboard into any folder on your computer.

For example, "D:\Sound\IDT"

Step 2:
Second, navigate to the folder you pasted the drivers in.
Then go to IDT, then WDM and lastly Vista.

Step 3:
Next, open both ---_WRT_---_--_--.INI files in notepad.
For example mine were called, "ECS_WRT_202_G2_DY.INI" and "ECS_WRT_206_G2_DY.INI"
Under the [Models] category remove all occurences of "&SUBSYS_--------"
For example it should read,"
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7682=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7682=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7683=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7683=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7680=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7682=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7683=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7680=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7682=this
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7683=this"

Now save both files and start the copied installer, and it should work.:D

I also registered for the forum to say thanks T11230, and with your help make the IDT audio drivers work for the Intel DP965LT:
In the [Vista] folder of the decompressed driver ( I used AUD_allOS_D20001.0x_PV_IDTGUI_v105_Legacy.exe), look for a file "Stwrt.ini", then edit as T11230 instructions: delete [&subsys_######] but leave the "=" and next characters, example: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7680=I3.INI.
Then reset the PC AND reconfigure your audio settings because in the first boot you are not going to get any sound (don't panic).

I also register to say thanks "T11230"

I had no more sound since I migrated my HP Pavillon dv7 2130 from Vista to Windows 7. No Media application worked anymore.

Following "T11230" advices, I've modified "WRT_M*_*.INI" files located at "C:\Program Files\IDT\WDM".

Now everything is working fine.

Many thanks !

Hopping Microsoft will fix this problem !

The HP does not use the Intel IDT drivers. Most of the HP's I've worked on lately have been using ASUS motherboards. If HP does not have drivers check the Retail IDT drivers.

How are you connecting to the Samsung Sound System? Via S/PDIF (digital)? or some type of analog connection? Many PC's only have two channel output on the Digital link, not 5.1 or 7.1.

I am connecting my sound system via standard stereo cable (3.5mm jack at one head, ard RCA at the other head). Is the only way that i can connect.

If you are connecting via the GREEN speaker out jack that is ONLY two channel stereo, you can't get 5.1 out of that.

Great job

What an awesome find. Gateway was no help ,,,in fact no one could helo and was just about take my clone drive and put it back on Vista 64 becasue of the stupid drivers for IDT. All I had were the restore disks from gateway which show everything as APP 1032222 whatever ,,,so I had to muddle through 40 or so to find the IDTin App002022 which was some 2007 version. I checked every .INI deleting the &sub and everything in btw the =. First time intalled and worked ever since. Have the gateway p 6860FX laptop I was thinking screwed bc Gateway is so bad about providing support for OEM drivers. I even tried using the IDT windows 7 driver put out for intel. Such I simple fix and Gateway or IDT was just dumfounded as what to do.

Fantastic Job

A big thanks to you T11230. After searching for hours to enable my front panel audio jack which is by default not working in windows 7, i came across this post and promptly disable the default MS Audio driver and installed the previous IDT audio device driver which was working perfectly for my XP for front audio panel. And now after installing as per your instruction, again my front panel audio jack is started to work. So again lots of thanks dear....
