hi , i have this problem whereby whenever i resume the computer from sleep, the dvd drive disappear from "my computer" and device manager. It could not be detected as well. All the hard disks were detected.

The only way was to restart the computer.

The dvd drive is connected via the IDE cable to the mobo , using the Jmicron IDE/Raid chipset.

may i know if there is any remedy to this ?

Thanks !

I experienced a similar issue, only instead of my dvd drive not being detected, when I woke up my computer from sleep mode my wireless pci adapter wasn't detected, and I had to restart the computer, and then it was fine. Only thing I can recommend is to make sure you have the latest drivers for anything you may have under IDE in device manager, and your dvd drive, only other thing I can recommend is to disable sleep mode if noone can provide a solution to your problem;(Right click your desktop, click personalize, click screen saver, towards the bottom click the blue link called 'change power settings', click your preferred plan, and set "Put the computer to sleep"; to 'Never') Hope that helps, but hopefully someone can provide a better solution for you.

I experienced this once with a second internal SATA drive disappearing when resumming from sleep. Other than restarting the computer, putting the computer back to sleep and waking it up again restored it also.

You might check to see if you have any newer chipset and BIOS versions available to see if they address and fix this issue.

Hope this helps some,
Shawn

The JMicron controllers have had issues for a while now. If I remember correctly, one of my old Gigabyte DS3 boards had one, and it was so problematic that it lead me to finally switch to SATA optical drives.

I bought a few of the $25 Samsung drives, and didn't have any issues for the remainder of the time I used that motherboard.

Jmicron

The Jmicron chipset is the issue here. I have an asus board PKE-5 and it has the Jmicron chipset and whenever I let my computer go into sleep mode 95 percent of the time it comes back it without the DVD drive. It's really annoying!
