Solved Internet Explorer 9 - Favorites snag

Hi fellas...thanks again for all your patience.
Ran Check Disk...didn't remove the folder.
IE9 was pre-installed, so deletion is not on.
I'm just sick of this now...clearly even the best brains at Seven Forums can't crack it
Put it in the 'UNSOLVED' bin...

Wonder if you could delete it by uninstalling IE? You would lose your customizations and save your favorites to another location for backup. Then try to delete it, then reinstall.

Maybe you could run a search for that folder name using Process Explorer to see if something's referencing it?

OK, willing to try something else? This thread has several different methods. See if you can use the method to find the 803 file name and delete it that way.

Have you tried LockHunter (D/L the x64 version)?

LockHunter is a free 64/32 bit tool to delete files blocked by any processes

Post a screenshot of the exact error you get when trying to delete if no fix.

Hi Guy...well..blow me down with a feather!
Took the advice on 803:

To solve, follow these steps:
1. Open up a command prompt (run cmd.exe from the Start Menu).
2. Navigate to the folder that the object resides in.
3. Run "dir /a /x /p" to display the contents of the folder, including
hidden files (/a) and 8.3 filenames (/x).
4. Find the 8.3 filename of the object to the left of the regular,
long filename.
5. Run "ren <8.3 name>" to rename the object, "del <8.3 name>" to
delete it if it's a file and "rd /s <8.3 name>" to delete it if it's a
folder.
Note: If renaming to a long filename, make sure to enclose the long
filename in quotations. If that fails, temporarily rename it to an 8.3
name and then rename it to what you want outside of the command
prompt.

I couldn't get 'into' Favorites to see the offending folder.
The '803' name for Favorites was 'FAVORI~1'
So I decided to try to remove the whole of Favorites
C:\Users\My Name\ rd s/ FAVORI~1
Are you sure?...oh YES!
Favorites including THAT folder all gone!
Then I simply went into Users\My Name\New>folder>named it 'Favorites'.
Now all I have to do is add a website as and when....
