Hello,

I installed Windows 7 yesterday. Also installed the newest video drivers. Now, I was trying to watch a youtube video, but after one minute my IE crashed and I had to restart the program and start watching a video all over again. Same problem over and over again. It seems like when I'm trying to watch a movie on youtube or megavideo, etc. IE just cant take it and crashes and restarts itself. But I really can't watch movies when it crashed every single minute or two.

Could anyone please help me?

Thanks,

If you installed new drivers, I do not know what the problem would be. If I were in your position, I would either try a repair install using the Win 7 DVD or better yet just make a Clean reinstall. Did you install by upgrade? Before reinstalling, make a copy of your current system on an external HD, that way, at worst you break even.

Update your Flash Player. Uninstall and re-install it. That might help.

Ehm, it was a clean reinstall. My video card is crap ATI Radeon X1650 and Windows 7 drivers (pretty new, Summer 2009). And not only my videos crash, but also a FPS multiplayer game crashes all the time. The game's name is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It crashes like after 1 or 2 minutes of playing.

Flash player is also the newest version.

You really need more memory..Windows 7 will imediately cache half of your system memory, leaving you with only 500mb of availabe RAM, and less than that if you share it with your video card... 2gb should be an absolute minimum for your system...

Yes, they indeed ain't the best specs, but I don't think that is causing the problems, or is it? Because with all my usual programs running, like MSN, Kaspersky, IE, etc, it doesn't take more then 55% of RAM.

Or are you absolutely sure that no other thing is causing the crashes?

I only recently upped to 2 GB memory from 1 GB. Previously with 1 GB and running all types of stuff on x86 including latest games and video encoding, the system was perfect. I even have "performance" memory now, double the size and I don't notice even a slight difference in performance/stability. Same.

So from what I understand, something else is wrong?

Anyone has any idea what else could cause the problems I'm having?

Thanks :)

For your problem, here are some things to check that will help.

1) Install the latest bios for your motherboard (if newer exists, from motherboard manufacturer's site.)
2) Install the latest chipset drivers for the motherboard (if newer exists, from motherboard manufacturer's site.)
3) Install the latest graphic card driver (if newer exists, from graphic card manufacturer site.)
4) Check Adobe's site for updated version of Flash.

crashes when trying to watch videos (youtube, netflix)

I am having a similar problem - netflix, youtube, and every other website with streaming video causes the window to freeze. I am forced to bring up the task manager to close the window, and repeat attempts always fail unless I restart the computer. After the computer restarts, I sometimes am able to get the streaming video to work, and sometimes I am not - more often not. I have never had this problem before upgrading to windows 7. I updated all of adobe - reader, flash player, and shockwave to try to fix the problem, but I am lost.

I have also noticed that other programs that play videos, such muvee and HP photo media smart have been crashing, which is a new happening since I have upgraded.

I would appreciate any help that can be given. I am not good with computers but will try to give you as much information as I can.

I have had this problem of videos crashing my browser for weeks. It started in IE9, so I got Firefox, then that crashed too, so I got Chrome, and that crashed too. I also noticed that if I downloaded Flash videos, and played them locally, they crashed the viewer too. The Adobe forums lead me to believe that maybe I needed to update my video driver, so I did that; but videos still crashed whatever ran them. I noticed that sometimes my sound would stop working before the video crashed, and sometimes I heard loud clicks while the video played, and I couldn’t launch the soundcard interface; so I wondered if the sound card was the problem. Today I re-installed my sound card driver, and the problem went away! These problems are not all straightforward, Windows machines can be difficult to trouble shoot, and not a every problem has an readily apparent cause.
