Internet Explorer Not Responding message

When my wife logs into her windows 7 account and tries to open IE10, it gives her a message on the top of explorer of Not Responding... but Chrome will work ok. I have scanned for malware and viruses, etc., and it found a few instances of pup something, and uninstalled IE10 but IE9 does the same thing. If I log into my windows account, IE10 will work fine.
There was an issue last week where her favorites got hosed up and had empty folders created which matched the names of the folders she has setup in favorites. Plus, one particular entry in her favorites bar was replicated like 500 times... it was for a local nursing home. Any ideas what I might do to get IE working again?

TIA

Usually the first thing you'd try is to go to the users account and attempt a browser reset.

However, you mentioned she had something happen with her folders, as well.

So, it appears the user account has become corrupted.

Also, run a complete scan with your Internet Security program. If you don't already have SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes. I suggest you download, update, then run system scans with those programs, as well.

Yes, the folders were in her favorites. She categorized groups by putting in folders.

I use browser favorites to store important links which I seldom use. And I use the Favorite Bar to store links for daily/weekly use. I've never saved that many favorites to need to organize folders for them. But, I do realize the need if you have that many links to save. However, the appears by saving so many links, something may of got corrupted in the process.

Keep us posted of your progress.
