Whenever I get on the internet it freezes maybe every minute. I can still control the mouse but everything else is frozen. It stays that way for about 15 seconds and then unfreezes and I can go back to working. Nothing closes or crashes, it just freezes. I use mozilla firefox. I read somewhere that it might be add-ons crashing that make it freeze so I tried disabling all the addons but it still freezes. How can I fix this?
Should I just use IE9?

Check your Anti Virus to see if that is causing it - Norton is particularly notorious for this. :)

Perhaps a 'System Restore' to a date before it began to happen would rectify the problem.

You might try another browser...Firefox or Google Chrome and see if you have same problem.
Might be your ISP connection. Have you tried rebooting(disconnecting all cables from ISP provider) then restarting your computer?

If it's an ISP problem you might try resetting winsock. According to Microsoft the winsock protocol is used by Windows to communicate with other computers and to access resources on the Internet, such as e-mail and Web sites. I had intermittent loss of connectivity last year and these were the things I tried. Ultimately I had to get a different brand modem to solve the connectivity issue. :

This is a common problem across all windows operating systems. I havent seen a fix for it yet.

Heard things from IE, secuirty software, hard disk, to all sorts of would be fixes, but no solutions just try try this etc with no results.

Wouldnt waste my time chasing around in circles. The only common thread has been Microsoft operating systems and maybe its a Microsoft update ??? who knows.

Lots of sites with the same problem reported and nobody has found a solution.

Pity Microsoft doesnt look into it.

If i see a solution that works will post it here.

Back to my first thought - if it is happening with any browser, then I would certainly check your AV settings. Which Anti-virus are you using?

Hi DrBejar :)

Do you use CCleaner - freeware to clean out your junk ? also do you clear your browsers History ? and just one more thing that wont hurt (cmd and type ipconfig/flushdns press enter... type exit to exit cmd)

Hi again. I have seen suggestions re all the security packages going around yet none caused the problem. Also graphics cards hard drives you name it so many with this problem yet only common thread is microsoft.

Question: does it happen on mac or linux that is other operating systems ??

I am not smart enough to try setting up linux or XXXX etc sure someone here is tho.

I have personally removed all other software other than microsoft then re installed windows 7 and I still get the problem.

Need someone smarter and more computer smarts than me to try to isolate the problem.

My thought is Microsoft software ???
