My internet goes stupid every few days if the computer hasn't rebooted. Rebooting fixes the problem.

The problem manifests as web page browsing that hangs. Sometimes pages do get pulled up after a long wait. The hanging takes place for any browser. Interestingly, I can still instant message just fine.

There are no abnormally high CPU processes. I restart the browsers.

The problem happens both through ethernet and the WIFI card in the computer.

ifconfig /flushdns doesn't help.

netman stop, then netman start doesn't help.

disabling each network device and re-enabling, which should toggle the driver, doesn't help either.

only rebooting fixes the problem.

i suspect something is wrong with the TCP/IP stack or something else in the OS above the hardware driver level.

i await a solution from microsoft.

You can see if it is the tcp.ip stack by stopping the service (services.msc) and re-starting it.

You might also have some tcp errors in event manager windows logs, applicaiotn or system

Wasn't clear to me what in services represents "TCP/IP." There is NetBios helper but I don't think that is it.

Anyway, on a hunch, I stopped Avast protection, and networking worked fine again. I either have to turn it off or find alternative protection.
