It claims to do the same thing that a HOSTS file does. I cannot seem to locate a place to download (to study) the software. Not even on their own website. I find that rather sleazy. It only seems to be bundle-ware :-(Everything you need to know about PenWes
Yes it protects you by jamming the host file IP into the static DNS settings?
It say's it can't install without consent. Pretty useless program I'd say.
They seem to make their money by selling the surfing habits/data that they collect on users. Some places on their website claim 300k users. My guess is: they probably also sell holes* in their ad blocking.A program like PenWes can do something else not what you want can be used by malware processes I imagine best thing you did uninstalling it.
*if a company pays penwes, their adverts get thru to penwes users.
Matthew Harbuz,
Let me know (even if by PM) if you figure out what the penwes software came bundled with. Your original antivirus app did not detect this app as bad - probably because it is a Potentially Unwanted Program. You might want to keep Malwarebytes installed.
I wonder why the penwes software stopped working? That is part of what I would like to study about it.
