IPV4 an IPV6 No Network Access

Hi all,

I've been browsing the forum for a solution to this. I've tried uninstalling my network driver and installing again, i've no bonjour services and even tried uninstalling adobe cs5 but none worked.My wireless have internet connection on IPV4 if my Ethernet Adapter is connected to my laptop. My WLAN adapter is Atheros AR928X on windows 7 ultimate.

From what I see here you have both connections working at the same time. Windows 7 will use the wired connection if both wired and wireless are connected at the same time so disconnecting, disabling or unplugging your wired connection should help get the wireless connection working.

Does it say Unidentified Network? Your bluetooth device might also be causing problem so you might try disabling it as well.
It might help me if I could see your ipconfig /all with the wired connection disabled.

hi thanks for the reply, had this worked already.. i installed a clean windows 7, still got unidentified network. disabled ipv6 on connection status then configure my wireless adapter and set network address to the 12 different characters, wooolllaaa it worked. i hope the problem is not caused by a certain windows update or adobe software or my laptop is trash again.

I think you meant to say you set the SSID "name of your wireless network" using 12 different characters "letters and numbers"?

You should also be using WPA2 for security and AES encryption. As you found out, you do need to set up your wireless connection manually by using the manual wireless connection settings to get it working.

If you needed to disable IPv6 to get this working then you are only masking an underlying problem else where in your system. I might also mention that the IPV6 protocol does not currently have internet access so the "no internet access" message is correct, it's only used on the LAN for now. I highly recommend against disabling IPv6.

The Argument against Disabling IPv6
It is unfortunate that some organizations disable IPv6 on their computers running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, where it is installed and enabled by default. Many disable IPv6-based on the assumption that they are not running any applications or services that use it. Others might disable it because of a misperception that having both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled effectively doubles their DNS and Web traffic. This is not true.
From Microsoft's perspective, IPv6 is a mandatory part of the Windows operating system and it is enabled and included in standard Windows service and application testing during the operating system development process. Because Windows was designed specifically with IPv6 present, Microsoft does not perform any testing to determine the effects of disabling IPv6. If IPv6 is disabled on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, or later versions, some components will not function. Moreover, applications that you might not think are using IPv6—such as Remote Assistance, HomeGroup, DirectAccess, and Windows Mail—could be.
Therefore, Microsoft recommends that you leave IPv6 enabled, even if you do not have an IPv6-enabled network, either native or tunneled. By leaving IPv6 enabled, you do not disable IPv6-only applications and services (for example, HomeGroup in Windows 7 and DirectAccess in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are IPv6-only) and your hosts can take advantage of IPv6-enhanced connectivity.

you're right, the solution i found was not permanent. I was referring to the SSID too as the 12 different characters and numbers. anyway i am off with no connection again. I hope you can further help me.

The wireless looks like it's working in the post above this one.

You do realize that IPv6 has no internet connection by design as it's only used on the LAN so it doesn't show up as connected.

I'm not sure what the problem is anymore? Exactly how many of those tunnel adaptors show up in your ipconfig /all?

Those can cause connection problems once they reach a certain amount the connection will drop out.
