Is it worth changing to windows 7 64 bit from Vista 64 bit

Hello, sorry if i am asking a question that may have been asked before but ive looked at some posts and cannot find any on this topic.

So i have Vista 64 home edition which is very stable and gives me no problems at all, well not since its early days when drivers were a nightmare and i want to know is it worth changing to windows 7 64 bit?
Can i expect any improvements in performance that would justify me changing?

YES-IMO it is worth making the change. This assumes that your hardware meets ALL requirements that the Microsoft site says are acceptable. It is easy to run the Windows Upgrade Advisor - so do that first.
If all is good, then back up everything important to you along with a copy of all drivers and program disks. I advise that people do a clean install on a fresh hard drive, but that is not required. A CLEAN install is and that means you will lose anything on the old drive.
Windows 7 is extremely stable and is much better with networking than XP or Vista. The 64 bit version is just fine running most software packages. You may find that it will be necessary to run some things in "compatibility mode" buyt that is a minor issue.

It is worth it yes. Window 7 is quicker, smoother and just better! If I was to make a comparative list of improvements I'd be here all day! I'm sure a google search will help compress it down for you!

I'm yet to come across any driver issues or bugs.

I believe if it isnt broken then dont fix it.

Reasons to change probably would be.

TRIM if got SSD.
New gui, if you a fan of the win7 gui changes.
Better UAC (although mainly affects only internals like control panel)
WDDM 1.1, this isnt all positives tho, the shift is from ram to vram in terms of resource usage, this can mean vram can get saturated (seen it happen on a 512meg gfx card) and wddm 1.1 is slower than wddm 1.0 on certian 2d operations. If big deal tho can use wddm 1.0 vista drivers on win7.
Better future proof on EOL
More software support as my guess is most vendors focus on win7 now primarily.
Better superfetch

Obviously is other improvements but they more minor and not a dealbreaker.

The main thing I noticed when I switched from Vista to Win7 was improved performance. All the machines ran raster and cooler than with Vista. That alone, for me, was worth the switch.

Also, all of the apps and drivers that worked in Vista also worked in Win7. So basically, I lost nothing as a result of upgrading to Win7.

Thanks for all the replies, ive bit the bullet and gone for seven 64 bit and so far everything is smooth and nice. Early days yet but first impression is i like the changes especially drivers.
