I don't know of a way to get windows explorer to do that but you can use third party software to get column view with the contents of each folder displayed in a new column.

I use several explorer alternatives - one of those is Ultra Explorer Portable and it can be configured to do what you are asking for.

In my Start, on the right side, are additional folder titles (music, video, documents, downloads etc.) and are configured to display as a menu (indicated by the small triangle to the right of the name). In my system, e.g., I clik :

Start > Music > Jazz > Artist > Album ... (after 'Music' all the various sub-folders display and keeps cascading until no more folders are present in the path.

Thank you!! Ultra Explorer Portable is AMAZING!

I just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU for your suggestion of Ultra Explorer :-) It is absolutely amazing software! I can't even tell you how helpful it is to have a cascading view of folders all in ONE window after 35 years of opening 5-7 subfolders :dinesh: I'd never seen a cascading view in one window until I saw a screenshot of a mac and then found this thread.
I just wish there was a regular as well as the portable version. Is there a way to install Ultra Explorer so it automatically runs when I start windows?
Thanks again for the brilliant suggestion

Would this be it? The .exe file is the bottom one.

Or... you can put a shortcut to the portable version in your startup folder?
