Many a times I face this issue when I try to safely eject my USB drive, be it USB flash drive or an external hard drive. I dont get the message when I can safely unplug the device. At times I have to close all my open applications before I can do this. It becomes troublesome when the application has never ever accessed the drive. Any idea as to why this could be happening and what the solution for this is.

Welcome to Seven forums bharath23. One thing that could cause it is Windows is indexing the removable drive. Go to its properties in Computer, right click/Properites, uncheck Allow files on this drive to be indexed.
