Whenever I run iTunes after a boot, it opens fine. After it's been shut down, it won't re-open, and I can't shut it down via Task Manager. Only after I reboot can I run iTunes again. Any ideas?

What version of 7 are you running, and are you running iTunes x64 or x86? Attempted to run x86, and 7 7000, and 7077 didn't like it at all. Removed iTunes x86 then installed x64 version.

Itunes and Apple are evil, I found out later that my Iphone cannot sync to Itunes after the win 7 install without wiping my Iphone clean, no back up allowed no sync without this!

I have always hated the snobby attitude of Apple.

Same Problem with Itunes

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and I can launch Itunes once. Once I close it it will not re-open but it is still running. It cannot be closed without turning the computer power off. It will not shut down in task manager or using taskkill/f. Taskkill says it kills the process but it doesn not. Very annoying. Any ideas? Thanks

I'm having the same problem as well, although I can get task manager to shut it down when it freezes. Once it has been shut down, it won't start up even now matter how I try to open it. (Using the desktop icon, the start menu, or typing itunes.exe into run. I am running 7 x64. I just uninstalled and reinstalled yesterday, and this did not solve the problem.

Omg, I spend so many hours with Media Monkey last year, just wanting it to work consistently. People in the forums tried to be helpful, but I think MM is something you either love fanatically or you hate. I really wanted it to replace or even outdo iTunes, but it failed miserably, I think it erased its own library 3 times and never really worked with my iPod. It claimed to work with my Windows Phone too, but never did.

Back on topic, iTunes was working for my on Window 7 32 bit until I installed Windows updates and reboot. Now when I start it it "itunes.exe" appears in my task list, and has some CPU activity at first, but then goes inactive and just sits there. The GUI never comes up. I can kill and restart the process ( including itunes helper ) as often as I want, the GUI never comes up.

I am going to try a reboot and see what happens.

end Audiodg.exe

I don't know if you guys are still fooling with this, but I found a solution that worked for me.

I haven't checked out what it's supposed to do yet, but I shut down the audiodg.exe process via the task manager and was then able to restart iTunes.

I did also delete the "SC info.sidb" file in this folder: C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info\SC Info.sidb, before shutting it down; but to be honest, the file was empty before I deleted it so I doubt that made an impact.

Cheers.

I've still got this problem.... I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes a number of times, different versions, and it still freezes whenever I try to close it.

I basically need it because I want to use the iTunes store (there's no real alternative here in Australia) and other ipod managers don't seem to work as well with podcasts and Last.fm

I'm so over it I hate it so much and wish I never bought an iPod.

Other companies can make their software/hardware work with other software/hardware why can't Apple????

Hello !!

Seems like it's quiet common issue. So i went around and did a small research on this. Most of them has issue caused by Antivirus / Firewall. ESET has it's own Knowledge base article for fixing this issue. Some of them got it to working by Disabling Bonjour service from Services. Also lot of issues with Last.fm and Outlook plug-in in i-Tunes causing problem. So i guess it's worth disabling it and testing it.

Hope this helps,
Captain

If you have still not solved this you can avoid the problem by just renaming or deleting the APSDaemon.exe file. This is ok as long as you do not need wireless syncing. To do it:-
C drive > Common file > Apple > Apple app support then rename or delete APSDaemon.exe
This solved the problem for me.
