Java Problem

Java Runtime stopped working.

Computer insists there is no Java on the machine, which is nonsense as there are Java files all over the place.

Update won't work as 'there is no application to run install.exe'. Jar-Fix doesn't work.

It al worked perfectly yesterday.

Same result with security suite switched out.

Windows 10 Pro 21H2 64-bit.

Regards,

Cheemag.

Are we talking Java or Javascript?

No. It's the Java Runtime system that appears to be missing.

The system that runs a .JAR programme.

I only have the one application so I can't test it with any others.

There;s everything Java you could possibly imagine including graphics files.Search turns up hundreds of Java folders - so it's quite definitely there.

The one application, Rivet.jar, is not installed. The Java Runtimes system is supposed to pick it up and run it. This is not happening because, according to Windows, there's no Java on my machine !

I'm not amused and I blame Kaspersky Internet Security as it had difficulties updating Java - never did succeed.
Ksapersky's software updater is now turned off - stable doors; horse; bolted ... :o(

Java is a security risk. I wouldn't have it installed unless you run a program that requires it. Most commercial programs have what they need bundled. You might try completing uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Use the java removal tool. fw_error_www Why aren't you asking at 10 forums?

Sorry, thought Seven Forum had become Ten Forums ....

I can't uninstall, install or update Java which my PC thinks is not installed.

I'm using one .JAR application which does not exist in any other form but Java. I've been using it for years.

Thanks for the link to the removal tool. '"No Java version detected". Yet all the files are on the disc !

Try the full installer or perhaps try 10 forums.

I've taken it up with Kaspersky. I'll wait and see what happens before bothering anyone else.

Thank you for your input.

Jim
