my 8800gt still going strong and handles any game I have thrown at it.

I can understand you saying games look better with the new card as I assume the games are either dx10 or 11 otherwise a dx9 game wont look better just because a newer card, also dont understand how windows desktop can look better.

my view on the heat is graphics cards do run too hot and use too much electric but that is a problem on older cards as well, my 8800gt is 70C on the windows desktop.

looking at your gpuz stats I see my 8800gt on stats is showing its age now :) you have triple pixel fillrate, triple memory bandwidth, triple memory size, the only thing close is texture fillrate I am just 25% less on that one. But as long as I dont notice problems in the apps/games I run I am happy with my 8800gt.

I ordered a backplate but I'm not sure if it's shipped yet. I did it a long time ago. So maybe it will show up sometime soon. I have no need for it atm though cuz I'm on water.

Where did you order a backplate for the GTX 480 at? I didn't think that they were available yet. Only the high flow bracket so far.

Yeah, these GTX 480's run hot. It doesn't help any that I have a overclocked version as well. :hot:

Mine seems to currently stay at 61C during everyday normal usage loads (not gaming).

What those charts fail to set is a custom fan speed. My GTX470 sits at around 70C while gaming.

Guess your 480 just isn't liking this summer weather, Brink :(

Yeah, I have the fan set to run at 65% all the time instead of the default 45% Auto mode.

Oh, you can make it louder to get cooler, I am sure. My HD 5850 is completely inaudible while gaming. :)

Pretty sure because we're using dual monitors. These fermis run a lot hotter because of the high idle clock speeds with dual monitors. It wouldn't be that hot with just one monitor.

Not really that much louder. While I'm playing games, speakers turned on, can't hear my PC at all under my desk.
