I was just thinking my updates had gone smoothly when I noticed there was another. kb2647753. So installed it got installed sucessfully.
Then I got it again, again.
I have installed it 14 times! Don't know what it does /breaks. if you right click details, 'page not found' as usual
so removed and blocked it, it's marked as important but as I dont know what it does and doesnt even know it been installed 14 times. It really can't work very well.

Hello stratoc,

I just updated a Win 7 32 bit PC and I'm seeing the same issue with KB2647753.
It installs, but it keeps coming back as an update available...

Glad to know it's not just this PC :)

Thanks,
David

Mine's listed 14 times.... I have hidden it now
Microsoft posted details of the vulnerablilites 9 days ago, or 9 days before they patched it, yet they release a rogues and I can't even find out what it's supposed to do because they havn't posted any details.
This is why I don't auto update, and why I'm regretting not waiting a few days to discover the issuse with their beta fixes.

it shows kb2647753 as sucessfully installed 14 times in action center too! No warnings in event viewer.
It shows in Installed updates, just the once. I would have thought if it show in there it would not be offered again?
Anyway removed and forgotten about.

Thanks everyone for the info on this.
I have a couple of machines i need to work on remotely and that is my bigger concern with monthly updates.
They are Vista and XP machines, so if anyone hears of issues with updates for those OS's I'd appreciate hearing about it!
I've got an XP setup I'll update and see how it goes...if i have issues i'll post back.

Thanks, David

If you download the standalone on same kb number and save it. remove kb2647753 from updates and reboot when prompted, restore hidden update.
Then install the stand alone, reboot when prompted. manually search for updates again the error update will vanish.

Here is the information on the update.

The version of the update rollup package that is available on the Microsoft Download Center is V2.000. The version of the package that is available through Windows Update is V3.001. However, the binary versions of the packages are the same.

That is probably why the Download version works and the Update version has a problem.

Description of an update rollup for the printing core components in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2

Thanks for the info. I downloaded all updates in small bunches with a lot of rebooting and installed KB2647753 last rebooted and then put it in hidden bunch. Will work with it later. Had a problem the first time I tried the updates. It killed my DSL. Had to completely reset my router and DSL modem. It actually turned out good. My DSL is much faster.

I used Phone Man and Kaktussoft suggestions.

I continued to get prompt to install again and again even though it showed successful install.

Uninstalled it and did the manual install of the old hotfix version and all is well.

All the other updates went fine with several reboots of course.

I ran WU again and KB2647753 no longer appears.
