Language levels

I don't want to sound too much like an old fogey but I do find the occasional bit of bad language offensive. An example is here:

Yeah, I think you are a bit too sensitive. This is apparently a young man and their language is that way. At my age, I have seen it all and do not get all upset about a little deviation from the norm as long as it does not become a personal attack.

Well, the post you linked does reveal a streak of intolerance, probably arising from ignorance and lack of actual hands on experience of using XP. In fact, its a very bookish kind of post. And yes, the language did make me squirm.

But the Poster will learn and hopefully enlighten himself. I hope this forum will help him do so.

I agree there. 99.9% are fine as this Forum proves but it only takes one to start a war but a million to finish it. Now I am sounding old so will shut up before someone tells me to. Very politely, of course

You did not miss anything. Just some language the young generation employs nowadays - unfortunately.

I'm sure I'll sleep okay for missing it. I was just mildly curious as to whether it was fornication, or defecation based.

Profanity has it's place - but not as a replacement for vocabulary, to be used everywhere and at all times.

Personally I'm not adverse to a bit of descriptive expletives - but not when it's used as every second word.

It's embarrassing to watch and to listen to it being spewed forth from peoples mouths. At the very least if they feel the need, use it wittily.

Unfortunately kids (and plenty of adults too) these days don't seem to realise that not only does their prolific use of profanity makes them sound uneducated, but it's constant use diminishes it's impact.
