Laptop cannot on if put hardisk

hi

im running hp v3000 and i know its a old laptop

here's the problem

1. if i put hardisk in my laptop, i cannot turn on my laptop with no power led light, no fans spinning and screen just blank.

2. but if remove the hardisk and press power button, everthing went normal and i can access to bios.

what i already tried

swapping with working hardrive and the result still occur 1.

Hello and welcome staticus mate sounds like the mobo and/or the power supply circuitry has gone south sorry but I cannot think of anything else that would do that. If it were the drive then surely the working drive would (if it was a boot drive with the machine's OS on it) - boot form it.

Nowone thing you can try if the optical drive is still working is try this
BOOTABLE UBUNTU
Make a bootable Ubuntu disk Get Ubuntu | Download | Ubuntu
Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL > select TRY not INSTALL
When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .
Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.
I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.
Now this is just to see if the machine will boot from something not particularly see what is on the drive but it can be done if necessary.
