Looking around, the cheapest 4gb was $49.00 and the cheapest 2 X 4 gb was around $90.00.

At that price, I would have been better off with the HP Pavillion - which had i5 and 8gb Ram.

What do you think of that model?

Can't tell if this i5 -4200U is 1.6 or 2.6 a huge difference. Hard to say with out side by side comparison. I'm toast at the moment and just no energy for side by side compare. It looks nice.

Watch for memory sales as NewEgg runs 10% off and higher all the time. GSkill, Crucial, Corsair and Team I've used all and they rock !.

Sorry you're under the weather - i called HP and it is 1.6ghz.

So I'm better off with the 4540s?

Just looked at specs for 4540s - that one has 2.4ghz.

Hi again, linnemeyerhere

The Probook is arriving tomorrow and I am ordering this to do a clean install on my pc and use the current SSD in the Probook.(Just feel comfortable with Samsung)

Can I just mount an image of a backup on the PC after install and xsfer the programs from that?

If not, at least I'll have a reference point.

BTW - I'm just going to mount the Probook hdd in my PC - less aggravation - people online say they have problems with the external cases.

I would play with the HD as is for awhile and have a good look around. Use that time to order your OS disc and drivers, also look at driver updates on the HP site. Then I would do a clean install of the OS and essential drivers only to the new SSD. If you get in a hurry then you can also do a image to DVD of the original set-up via Macrium or the like and then begin to remove and unistall all the bloatware you don't want and then see if you can disk defrag the lightened hdd, then image that using macrium to the SSD, install and boot. All things being equal I would order the disc's and clean install or even install using your exact version via a qualified torrent.

Hi linnemeyerhere,

Well the laptop arrived today (on it now.)

When I did the setup I was surprised to find NO Bloatware.

Also, kind of confusing (but nice) is the boot time is as fast as my PC -strange, huh?

I did find that trying to download Firefox, I couldn't until I found a link for laptops - guess there will be a little bit of a learning curve.

Hi Linny,

Well, I installed the new 840 evo in my pc and the restart time is 37 secs.

I installed the 830 from pc to the laptop and it is a few secs faster.!

Took me about half an hour to install the ssd to laptop - wasn't getting good connection.

Nothing is easy, heh?

That's great news about the SSD, it will yield other benefits as well in cooler lappy and longer battery run times. Just double check that regular or scheduled defrag has been turned off in tools !
