Yes, it should. As I already wrote, the Norton corruption should be wiped away along with all the other bloatware. A new registry is installed with only the app settings and your user account preserved.
Actually the entire OS is reinstalled with the apps, their settings, and your account information all that is retained and reinjected. So the only corruption that can be passed would be with those specifically.
I've got everything re-installed, except for the Windows 8.1 Update and 2 more updates. But, every time I try to install an update it runs into an error.

I guess it's better. I don't know. I really didn't notice a difference. I removed the bloat ware that comes pre-installed on all Acer computers. It's at 78% now of installing the Windows 8.1 Update.

Hmm. I'm not familar enough with 8 to know why that isn't rolled into the image it Refreshes from, or did you provide the 8 installation disk? Was it requested?
You'll still need install all Important and Optional Windows Updates after the upgrade. I realize it's automated in the background in Windows 8 but I'd still watch it closely to make sure all Optional get chosen.
How is the performance difference on the Acer I cleaned up for you last night, mainly by disabling all the Acer bloatware Startups and Services, replacing Norton with MSE?
The Acer you helped me with last night is doing much better. For Windows 8, it offers 3 choices. Those choices are "Refresh your PC without affecting your files, Remove everything and reinstall Windows, and Advanced Startup".

Yeah, same for Windows 10. I didn't know that it would strip out the Windows 8.1 upgrade though. Thought it would use the image file stored onboard to Refresh or prompt you for 8.1 media.
Would be interesting to hear how the two PC's compare now. You can probably eventually regain more performance from the Win7 Acer with the Clean Reinstall Windows 7.
Ever since I did that refresh last night, I am having a little problem with Gmail in the Metro email app. It says it needs attention. But, I already have a Gmail account on it. When I clicked on the Gmail app that needs attention, it said it couldn't sync messages. Could Maxie, Greg, or someone look into this for me, please?
