Laptop shut off...wont turn back on :(

I was playing a game and my laptop completely cut out. I assumed it was an overheating problem, but it was only warm, not hot. It's been about 15mins now and it's still not turning on. When I press the power button the light comes on for a brief second then turns off and the speaker makes a popping sound. I've tried removing the battery and holding the power button for a minute to drain any excess, didn't work though. Also when the laptop is plugged in the charging light still works, so it's not completely dead. What else can I try?

Try switching it on with the battery out first and if the problem persists then check the adaptor for power output (ie volts)

Like ICit2lol said try starting the laptop with the battery removed, even though the battery charge indicator light comes on doesn't mean the battery isn't completely dead. When you power the system on with the battery in and the power adapter dissconnected does the Power indicator flash and nothing happens or does it come on and go out? That light just means that the battery is charging. I have also did a little reasearch on your Mechine and with the model you have the Bios regulates the Fan speed purly based off the CPU temp completely ignoring the GPU temp. So therefore creating an overheating and shutdown situation, although if the computer did over heat and damaged a componet inside that would creating the problem that you are having. Try the following steps to see if it will help any.

1. Make sure your battery isn’t completely dead. As in–all the way dead, to where it can never charge again. Assuming your battery still works, continue on…
2. Remove your battery from your Acer laptop. Yes, I know I just told you to make sure the battery works in number 1 but there is a reason for this.
3. Next, unplug the power adapter from the wall AND from the computer .When your Acer laptop doesn’t power up the problem could be worsened by leaving it plugged in.
4. Now that the battery and adapter have been disconnected from the computer, you can move onto the solution. Hold down the power button for 45 seconds. Next, Press the power button numerous times for at least 45 more seconds (keep pressing the button during the entire time period).
5. Allow the laptop to sit for 20 minutes at least (sometimes it will power on immediately after performing #4, but in worse cases this is encouraged)
6. After the “waiting” period has ended, connect the battery and adapter to the computer. Turn it on

It may just be a build up of static electricity preventing the computer from turning on. I hope this helps you with your problem.
