Laptop will not wake from sleep

I am at a loss my laptop will not wake from sleep move when I close the lid I have to press the on /off to get it to restart and then it goes into safe mode also when I go to restart I have to press the on/off button to restart it

Go into "Control Panel" then "Power Options". I am not on a laptop now, but there should be an option in that area that "Choose what to do when lid closes", or something to that effect. I will check tonight on my laptop if you don't find it before then.

The sleep function is controlled by the videodrivers. Update those or go back to an older version to see if it fixes your "no wake" issue.


Since I am on a laptop, here is the area that bigmck wanted you to check:

I'm not saying to duplicate the settings shown above...
...I'm just showing the screens that bigmck described.

You might try:
...changing those settings to something else
...close the power settings window
...re-open the power settings window
...change the settings back to the desired state
...close the power settings window again
...and test to see if sleep/wake works as desired.

I had changed it to power saver and that is when all the issues started happening will change it back and do that will let you know what happens
