Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7

brianzion I have the CCC shortcut too in the desktop context menu.

Although when I first start the computer I see a black border around the desktop for about 2 mins until CCC fully starts and my settings for overscan start working.

thanks for your input i done a fresh un-install and re-install of ccc 12.6 but it still did not show in the context menu first time this has happened for me. its no big thing i have used a third party program and have it in there now but its not at the very top its in the middle.

hi brink i checked the registry editor and the entry is in there. i have checked with shellexview and the file does not exist and this was after a fresh re-install off ccc

C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\atiacmxx.dll

Mine is showing it to be at the location below instead.

C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\atiacm64.dll

right i have found it i think does this mean my entry in registry is wrong?

Could be. Double check the same location in my screenshot to see if you have the same as me there. If not, then you'll need to modify it to correct the location.

yeah i think its the same but i am getting confused why its not working i thought if i un-installed the ccc completely as i did it, would re-install correct i can try again and hope all the reg keys get taken away i could use revo

I'm afraid that I don't know why it's not automatically adding CCC in the desktop context menu after doing a uninstall and "clean" install of CCC. Maybe something blocking it. Just odd.

with regard to Skyrim..

there have been reports of GFX anomolies with the *12.7 (26th June) BETA driver
- indeed, my system was affected: the GUI was all over the place, with place markers appearing outside the boxes
and the compass points being spread over the whole top line of the GUI, instead of inside the box provided..

- the simple fix was to scale back on the shadows settings..
- I moved mine down from Ultra to High and the problem disappeared completely..

* - BTW: these are excellent drivers, the colouration and texture detail is tremendous..

Hmm odd my CCC never disappeared then again for some reason it says its driver version 12.6 for some reason but i installed these beta 12.7 drivers. Anyways drivers seem to be fine so far

Unless things have changed, beta's have almost never included the registry string for the Cat version.

AMD Catalyst 12.6 Beta Legacy

CERT recently approached AMD with information pertaining to what they believed to be a possible video driver vulnerability exposed by non-default settings of the Microsoft® Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET). EMET is a security test tool that allows system administrators to create test conditions to validate correct behavior of system components or indicate potential weak points. The presence of an issue does not necessarily mean that this issue can be exploited in regular operation of a system. The default safety settings of the EMET do not cause the issue in question to occur.

The AMD Catalyst 12.6 beta driver for the AMD Radeon HD 2000, AMD Radeon HD 3000, and AMD Radeon HD 4000 Series is designed to resolve a possible video driver vulnerability issue and to minimize the occurrence of system crashes.

Mine doesn't even if I uninstalled them and put back 12.4 it says 12.6:huh:

No idea how to fix that,uninstalling them and then going over with driver sweeper doesn't fix that.

the 12.7's apparently go into AMD HD7*** series territory,
..tho' they will work with earlier cards, to a degree..
- check the compatability list at guru3D


in the 25th June BETA version of 12.7, the details are slightly different - indicating a later version..

- the 25th June version is the CORRECTLY named 12.7 BETA,
- and it's also the most advanced test driver (- at the time of writing..)
