Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Hello guys, I have a quick question regarding the Realtek hd audio manager. I just recently reinstalled my windows 7 and just got the new 2.56 release of the driver, but I cant seem to find the Audio manager software itself. Am I missing something? I had it working fine now I cant find it after installing the driver, I remember it being part of the download. Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem, i cant find the audio manager anywhere. Iam at my wits end. Please help!!!!

Type in Audio in the start menu & select Realtek HD Audio Manager.

I downloaded this driver but windows 7 won't update it. I get message, newer driver is already installed.

What does all this mean:

ALC882, ALC883, ALC885, ALC887, ALC888, ALC889, ALC892, ALC899, ALC861VD, ALC660, ALC662, ALC663, ALC665, ALC670, ALC680 ALC260, ALC262,ALC267, ALC268, ALC269, ALC270, ALC272, ALC273, ALC275

How can I find which one is mine?

Hello Devilz,

Those are the supported "Audio Codec" model number of your Realtek HD sound device. You can open the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel (icons view), then click on the I button to see the codec number of your device.

While you're there, see what audio driver version you have. If it's 6.0.1.6278, then you already have the latest version installed.

I've downloaded the file but can't install it cause windows give message, newer driver already installed? Now what

Have you made sure you downloaded the right package. I did the one that said it would do 64 and 32 bit. But it did not work. So I went and did the one that said it was for 64 bit only. And then it worked for me. Also remember you have to run it ounce to uninstall then restart and do again. If the one you tried did not work. Try one of the other ones. Thats what I had to do. There is a few of them for both 32 and 64 bit.

I actually used the Executable file. This is the name of the one I used. Vista, Windows7 Driver(64bits) Driver only (Executable file). Do not forget that I have 64 bit though. If you have 32 bit you could try the 32 bit one. Like I said try the other ones. There is multiple ones for both versions of Microsoft 32 & 64 bit. I had to try it like 2 or 3 times before it worked for me. Try the one that is made for just your version of either 32 or 64 bit. If it is 64 try the one that says this exactly. This is the one that worked for me. None of the others worked for me.

64 Bit= Vista, Windows7 Driver(64bits) Driver only (Executable file)

32 Bit= Vista, Windows7 Driver(32bits) Driver only (Executable file)

Install it only one more time to actually install the driver. The first installation removes the currently installed one. See blue NOTE box on first page for more on this.

What I mean when I say I had to try it a couple times. I mean that I tried downloading and running a couple of the files off the website. Not that I ran it more than 2 times after I downloaded it. The first time removes it the second time installs it. So if you were to run it 3 times. I would assume that it would uninstall it again. It uninstalls when it detects one. And when it does not detect the driver it will install it. So yes do not run it more than ounce after you download it. But go ahead and download a different one that will work with your system.

I've always downloaded the ZIP version, extracted the contents using the default settings, and then installed using the method described here: Device Manager - Install Driver - Vista Forums

I've had no problems whatsoever using this method, and you only need to do this once to successfully install the driver. You will need to restart afterwards, but I recommend that you restart after installing any drivers, not just those that prompt for it.

I would recommend you run the program ounce more. When you run it for the first time it uninstalls the old driver. Then you have to restart & run the program again. This time it will install the new updated driver.

i resently tryed to update to 2.56 on windows 7 64bit but when i did it stayed the same (High Definion Audio Device - Driver version 6.1.7600.16385 date- 7/13/2009 and Realtek High Definition Audio - Driver version 6.0.1.6196 date 9/7/2010) and it wouldnt update to the new ones that where released this year. i downloaded it stright from the realtek site but no luck on getting the newest one. i tryed all they 64bit ones (zip and Executable file) and even tryed the 32bit for the hell of it and no luck on getting the newest ones and if i try this more then once all it does is remove my reaktek and replace it with another high definition one instead of upgrading only the high definition one to the newest one(6.0.1.6278 ). any help?

should i do this for the high def or the realtek high def?

did that and high definiton audio device is driver date 7/13/2009 driver version 7.1.6700.16385 and realtek high definition audio is now driver date 12/30/2010 driver version 6.0.1.6278
