Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Can I install and run Realtek High Definition Audio if I got SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio. My audio stopped working for some reason so, I was wondering if that's possible..?

Based on your computer specs, it is NOT possible to install Realtek HD Audio drivers because your HP notebook computer uses ADI (Analog Devices Inc.) Soundmax audio drivers. Attempting to install the Realtek audio drivers will not make your audio work (and your efforts will be in vain). And the hardware device ID for the Soundmax audio hardware is different from the Realtek HD audio hardware. Realtek high definition audio hardware ID begins with HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC while ADI Soundmax HD audio hardware ID begins with HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4. Therefore you must only use ADI Soundmax audio drivers, not Realtek audio drivers.

For those that might want a new set of Realtek HDA drivers before the new coming ones, "Microsoft Update Catalog" have published their own version 6.0.1.7318 on date of August 12, 2014.

PS:
You'll have to install from the Device Manager this set of Realtek HDA drivers (no installer). Once downloaded extract the .cab with 7-zip (you can have it within the Sevenforums).

In the Device Manager choose to update Pilote, then point to the extracted folder location.

I've just recently registered into this forum and there's also a 7318 driver from the MSI web site for those who use MSI notebook computers. This one contains a setup program that will automatically install the Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.7318 drivers.

Version 6.0.1.7340 of the Realtek HD Audio driver (dated 9/10/2014) for 32bit/x86 Windows 8.1 has been recently made available on Microsoft Update Catalog (must use IE to view the Microsoft Update Catalog site).

I tried to download the latest driver on IE11, but the message says I need a version higher than IE6!

Also says when I try to upgrade - you have the latest version.

How can I download this latest driver update?

When you go on this Microsoft web site with IE, you're prompt to install active X control in order to download. Refresh you page when active X is installed.

Are you running IE in Compatibility mode? If so, try turning that off when visiting the MS Update Catalog site.

Tools -> compatibility view settings

And Hewlett Packard posted their version of the 7368 Realtek audio drivers for those using HP Pavilion 10-f001au Notebook PCs a few days ago. Even though HP says it's version 1.00 B, the actual drivers are version 6.0.1.7368 as I downloaded & checked the contents myself.

probably an IE add-on messing up IE? I can download stuff from microsoft update catalog fine with IE11 on my Win7 SP1 computers. look at the url carefully in the IE address bar and try to just go to catalog.update.microsoft.com

I've tried everything - clicked Active X (on), started in Safe Mode, disabled add-ons.

Nothing works and the message continues to appear.

I've gone to Dev Mgr and it says I have the latest driver for Realtek driver (although I obviously don't).

I'm going to leave it alone, since I can't get the download to work.

As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I downloaded the latest drivers from Realtek site for my system and it worked. Why cannot you try to download with Mozilla firefox, updated, . I do not have any problem in downloading. You should not try to download the executable only from the link (highlighted blue). YOu should download the full version that is almost 200 mbs size downunder. I saved the drivers and then ran it. It alerts fro windows known site and then when i continue it asked for certificate, just i continued to get the installation. That is the latest driver from Realtek for windows 7 and above. the link is here

hi, try this (for the link in application not found error )
Start button > Default Programs > Set Your Default Programs > left coulm, click mozilla firefox ) > does it say " This program has all its defaults " ?
If it does not say so, click Choose Defaults for this program > put checkmarks on all entries under the list > clikc Save. Now try to open the link from the link. It should work.
This is issue with default program settings. Let me know
If this does not work
Then follow these steps:
Step 2
1. Click Set program access and computer defaults
2. Click Continue if you see the User Account Control prompt.
3. Click Custom
4. Select your web browser from the list
5. Click OK.

Not from Dev Mgr - which said I had the latest river, but from MSI link.
