Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

I have a question:
I wonder if it is actually recommended to update such audio drivers. I mean, this is not like NVIDIA GPU drivers where they mostly tell you when a driver update is available and recommend you to install it. In my mind, GPU's also mostly need such updates, but Audio devices, not really.
I wonder if your computer can handle later Realtek audio driver version than the one that was installed on your device from the beginning. I did have an issue with my sound before and it occured after I updated the Realtek audio drivers before.
The issue was that files like .mp3 or .avi , etc could not play the sounds in any media player. Windows media player gave an error and other media players (VLC) just didn't do anything when I pressed the play button. Video files on the other hand did play, but completely silent. However videos from the internet (YouTube) did play sound. (games or anything on the computer itself did not, except the "ticking" sound when browsing through folders in the explorer)
The only way I could fix it was to disable the sound effects in the Speakers settings (Playback devices), something which I never had to do until 1 sudden day. I blame the audio driver update for it, but it could be something else...

Well, for me, upgrading for the latest Realtek drivers did the trick, I had very high CPU usage in audiodg.exe when playing anything, with the update the problem is gone, and normally it goes from 0% to 4% of CPU usage, even when playing HD videos on Youtube or any HD content in Flash.

Most of the times, disabling the sound effects fix some extra issues you may face, players like media player or Winamp normally don't use this, and even for some web content, you can get actually, better audio quality if you disable it...

Edit: Aw DAMN! - v7566 is WHQL for Win10 only; non-signed for older Windows versions.
Win7 users should obtain 7565 instead of 7566.

Version 7571 just posted for 32bit & 64bit Windows on MS Update Catalog.
Unlike the 7566 version, v7571 is WHQL for Windows from Vista to 10.

Try reverting back to old drivers, uninstall either via Control Panel -> Add Programs and Features, then run a Cccleaner to remove any registry/file leftovers. If you don't have any entries in Programs and Features, go to Device Manager -> Sound, video and Gaming devices -> Realtek *********, right click -> uninstall -> tick "Remove driver files too". Then CCleaner.

In both cases, reboot after uninstall and run ccleaner after rebootm then, reintall your older drivers, it should be OK.

Brink, v7580 was WHQL'ed for Win10 only - Win7 will treat 7580 as an "unsigned" driver, but Win10 won't.

But versions 7581 & 7582 were posted on Microsoft Update Catalog on August 18 and both are WHQL for all Windows versions from Vista to 10.

v7586 was posted on MS Update Catalog for 32bit & 64bit Windows yesterday Aug. 21, 2015.
Microsoft is rapidly and frequently posting new Realtek audio drivers there, ever since the Windows 10 operating system was released back on July 29.
