Brink,
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just got here looking for the latest Realtek HD drivers and I didnt read the whole thread. Please forgive me.....I followed the link in your updated post#1. Im confused are these drivers for just Win10 or will they work on Win7-64. Also there are 4 different packages and they all look the same(except for size). How do I know which one I need. It's possible I am not seeing the complete rendering of the page...... I dont use IE unless it is my only option and I didnt see the 'cookie jar' in the internet options...... shouldnt it be under privacy?
Are the June 25th drivers the latest for Win7-64
Thank you for your advice and understanding!

@chasoscar: the latest "Windows 7 specific" Realtek HD Audio drivers listed at the MS Update Catalog site are version
6.0.1.7673 dated 11/24/2015 (1 download for Win7, 2 downloads for Win10).
The Win10 specific drivers listed may also install and work under Win7 but not always. It depends on the
WHQL qualifications as I always check the digital signature CAT files that come with the driver files (like
HDXRT.CAT, double-click on this file to view the Security Catalog info, click on the Security Catalog tab section, then click one of the "Tag" entries and then in the "Entry details" section I look for a property called
OS:Attr; if
OS:Attr has a value of
2:6.0,2:6.1,2:6.2,2:6.3,2:10.0, then the driver can be used on these NT specific versions, which are Vista/Win7/Win8/Win8.1/Win10. But if
OS:Attr only had a property value of
2:10.0, then the driver is only certified for use with Win10 only). Anyway that's how I look at it.
Note to Brink:
v6.0.1.7687 (12/08/2015) came out a few days ago [for 32bit & 64ibt Windows]. The 7687 downloads are listed at MS Update Catalog but the site is generating error messages when attempting to download them lately, so I'll download them directly from the Softpedia drivers site in the
Realtek sound card drivers section. Ver 7687 is WHQL for Windows from Vista to 10.
