IN MOST CASES..... ABSOLUTELY "OUTDATED"!!! When a former Marine I know stopped by some time back and I happened to mention a new Linux VM ubuntu 15.10 no longer being worth the effort for ubuntu I got told:

I used Linux for 7 years! Stick with Windows!

In contrast to how easy it is to see a new program installed on Windows in contrast to how it was actually harder on Legacy even then seen later on try manually installing packages on a distro! You need to reschool yourself and why Linux usually was referred to years back as the "Geek OS"! People got flustered with the awkwardness as well as lack of programs then.

Over the past 8 years or so I have run Ubuntu, a number of Mint versions, Zorin, peppermint, Puppy, Tails and Elementary. Perhaps I haven't been able to 'warm my brain cells up', but I find them just something to play with, another toy. They are much more difficult to use and some things just won't work right on them. I am still running Windows for a good reason.

Shake your Peanut? I haven't tried that one.

Some applications in Mint are just shit....I run Linux natively and it takes longer for Thunderbird to sync IMAP then it takes to load W10 in a VM running in Mint and using em mail client. Go figure that out.

Why will you (and I and anybody) want to be able to?

Why will you install a program by opening a terminal and then writing a lot of commands there one by one where you can do it by just double clicking???

I do the easiest job in the hardest possible way that does not mean I am superior. It simply means that I am a dumb.

It is strange that you need the Terminal. I have used Terminal very, very rarely and most times because that was the fastest way to get something done. I think I could get away without using Terminal.

I don't have to! I take a fast look at a version or two or even three newer for whichever Linux Mint Debian flavor is out and a recent look at what is seen with ubuntu wasn't too impressive there at all. Have taken a look at number distros including Puppy, Mephis, Gentoo. Knoppix first live for cd later live for dvd when that Debian flavor grew in size.

As for Red Hat you are talking the server flavors and usually left to corporate interests to tinker around with. Despite even having custom installs of LMDE on a 32gb and second 13gb partition on a 128gb live data recovery stick I hardly ever fire up the Linux VM of the same!

Lately been a bit more focused on what is going with 10 as well as just having seen a new updated version of VM Player not the latest VM Workstation 12 Player but the replacement for the old style VM Player 7.1.2 released back on June 15ht with the 7.1.3 build while VMware no longer sees that listed in their downloads replacing with the September release of the Workstation Player. Apparently if you are one of those still running that you then see the latest go on.

As for the Linux VM on Hyper-V that will now be on an extended hold having had to disable that feature until working out a bug with the Virtual Switch Manager used to add new network switches. Ran into the same problem seen on 8 and 8.1 as well. Of course by replacing VM Player 7.1.3 with the Workstation Player as well as turn off Hyper-V I can now import the VMs that were on 7!

Try installing Bitdefender for Unices without requisite terminal commands to get it to work properly.....then get back to us.

Installing a rare program which is not available from the Software Manager is one of those cases. But how often do you do that. And for what purpose do you want to install BitDefender.
