Little Yellow Triangle & no internet access - Other devices connect

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help as I have spend hours scouring forums and trying fixes with no luck..

I have recently started getting the little yellow triangle with the exclamation point on my network access system tray icon.

My internet is fine as all other devices (pc, iPad, I phone, Android phone & ps3) all connect perfectly to the internet.

If I disconnect or run the network troubleshooter my computer connects for anything between 30 seconds and 5 minutes before telling me no internet access. Network Diagnostics tells me the default gateway is not available and has fixed it but only for a few moments.

I am using an Edimax EW-7622UMn wireless network adaptor for which I have installed and uninstalled and reinstalled and updated drivers.

I have performed a clean boot and am getting the same issues. I don't have any other connections configured on my pc that could be conflicting.

Please, does anyone have any bright ideas? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the welcome, coincidence that I'm only up the road in Leeds! Thanks also for the prompt reply.

I haven't attempted to run a wired connection as I dont have a long enough ethernet cable, I could buy one.. us tight Yorkshire folk etc etc!

Here are the results of the ipconfig/all:

I'm not an expert on networking, but when comparing your ipconfig /all to mine, both on my main computer (Ethernet/wired) and netbook (wireless), they both show the DNS Servers to be the same as Default Gateway and DHCP Server.

In order for me to post, I had to select the 'troubleshoot problems' option in the network and sharing centre. Since I last did that (exactly an hour ago) my internet has been working. I have even reset my pc to see if it made a difference and it is still working! I haven't changed anything else. I cant explain it and I'm sure it will go off shortly but it's allowed me to do some Christmas Shopping anyway! I can follow instructions but once you start mentioning DNS & DHCP servers I'm out my depth I'm afraid!

Can you run the equivalent of ipconfig /all on one of your devices that is working normally for comparison purposes?

The only issues I was having was the triangle and it not connecting?

Anyway, strangely enough, its worked perfectly since I posted in here. I had considered it was something Virgin Media were doing as I discovered Steam was downloading 10+ gig of updates in the background, however I had performed a clean boot so I would have thought this would have prevented steam from operating and I still got the error.

From what I'm seeing here, somebody typed two incorrect IP's into the DNS settings of your router or the IPv4 properties window. Those incorrect IP's need to be removed. Either that or we are dealing with one of those router/modems which is plugged into another router and we could be seeing the gateway of another router.

You won't get far unless you type proper DNS server IP's into your routers settings for DNS at 192.168.0.1 typed into the URL of your browser. This will get you into your routers settings.

Or you can type the DNS IP's into the IPv4 properties, Google's DNS at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 will work for this.

This link shows you where to type the Google DNS IP's :)

If it helps, I think I finally solved the problem I was having. It would appear during the time of the last issues Steam was running in the background and installing a couple of large games. I have bought a few more today in the sales and am getting the exact same issue after about 10 gig of files have downloaded, with more to be downloaded. All my other devices in the house are working fine so it appears Virgin Media are doing something due to the heavy file downloading from my pc.

Thanks for the help and suggestions and I hope this info can help someone in the future.
