Live messenger doesn't show http links in chat window.

It only shows link when there is no http, but www.
I'm so tired to copy and paste those http links to my browser all the time..

Strange, it seems to show them for me in the 14.0.8064.206 version of WLM.

Double check in the "Security" options to see if this is checked for you.

I'm using the same version of WLM and i tried to check/uncheck the "Security" options, but no any help with it.
The very strange is that in writing box it shows the http link:

I have tried to reinstall WLM but I think that some files are kept somewhere or in the registry, because the problem stays.

I already have changed compatibility mode to SP1 because of that taskbar icon problem and also tried SP2 but nothing. Hmm... maybe total unistallation will help me but when i unistall live messenger with add/remove programs then something still remains because after reinstall all my settings stay the same..

I would totally un-install WLM and run a registry cleaner like ccleaner to remove the links for WLM.

Tried to uninstall and clear registry with ccleaner but no luck... I think that problem can't be solved.. Maybe only solution is to format windows..

uninstall it, go to these places if they're still there after uninstalling WLM and running CCleaner and delete the contents of the WLM folders. then reinistall, see if it helps.

Tried this way also but something still remains and no still http links. Now I downloaded older version of WLM (8.1) and http links are working.. This is not mean that I stick with 8.1, it is too old for me and I take WLM 9 back, but it's mystical why it doesn't show http links in chat window...

You might see if uninstalling all Messengers, then do a search in the registry for anything with Messenger that is related to Windows Live Messenger and delete it.

I would strongly recommend that you create a restore point first though in case you need to do a System Restore.

And that's it, now all http links in WLM9 work like hell!! Thank you guys very much.
I thought that i'm just one unlucky guy whose messenger eat brains...
Problem seems to be with compatibility modes, i didn't try to turn off vista mode, but now I have a new problem, messenger icon is doubled on taskbar and nothing in notificaton area.
When I first installsed win7 then I used this tutorial.

That good news.

You have to run WLM in Vista SP1 or 2 compatibility mode though or you will get that double icon problem and it won't be in the system tray.

Thank you all again, now I must choose between links and tray icon. I choose icon and hope that WLM will be compatible with Win7 soon.

The same thing happens to me. When I run WLM in compatibility mode, the links are not clickable if I write to online/busy/away friends, but one I use offline messaging it displays the link. When I remove compatibility mode there are no issues like this, but I hate to see double windows live messenger in taskbar, and I don't want to use combine mode. My OS is the latest Windows 7 build (7600-16835), and I think that in RC 7100 this wasn't happening.

Hmm strange, I think that it's a big lottery to get windows correctly installed and we are the unlucky ones.... I have build 7201 and that problem.. You said that build 7600 has this problem too.... now i'm really scared..

Sorry to bump this old thread.

Is there any news on this issue? I was running compatibility mode for a few months and wasn't able to click on links, until i bumped into this thread. Is there a way to see links and use the tray icon at the same time?

I discovered that my desktop computer things are running fine when I don't make my Opera browser to default browser, in notebook i chose Opera browser default and i don't see links. So is it maybe problem with opera or messenger needs IE to be a default browser?
