Well firstly I'll start by saying: Hiya! To everyone, I am new in this community and hope you guys may be able to help me on an issue I've had..
Back in 2011 I had a desktop PC (an eMachine), Unfortunately it died, I was able to recover the Hard-Drive though, I have a lot of family pics and videos as well music that I DO NOT want to lose, I bought a 3.5 Hard Drive enclosure and installed it.
While I had problems with the ownership of the disk and other type of permission issues (Which isn't a problem anymore, I fixed that) however, Now that I do have access to the hard drive whenever I try to get into a folder or put in a path (Example: F:\Documents and Settings\user ___\) It'll give me a message as: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. (and you know the rest), I tried different types of fixes such as:the fix manager error and other things I actually found on this forum and have had no luck, I need you guys' knowledge, these files are really important for me. I would appreciate it a lot.
Lastly, Thanks so much for taking your time in checking my thread and attempting to help. Much Love fellas.

Does it stop you from browsing further in? Why not copy your pics, videos and music to another folder and delete the unnecessary user folders?

I will ask an expert to look into your case.
I am not that expert :-)

MakaveliSkar,
What operating system was on the computer that died?
I'm wondering if the documents.lnk was a hard link.

Can you provide a screenshot of Windows Explorer with the F drive selected in the left (navigation) pane and the contents of that drive in Explorer's right pane?

Ok, try this:

Run cmd as admin (Start Menu search for "cmd" and right click - "Run as Administrator"
enter the following command, replace h:\ with the drive letter of your USB drive. Copy paste it (in cmd window right click empty space and select paste):
attrib -h -r -s /s /d h:\*.*

If you start seeing your files, don't copy or open them, first run a virus scan, then scan with Malwarebytes.

Yesterday I ran a virus scan with Avast Premier 2015 and it turned out to have a number of viruses (The HDD where I am having the lnk issues), I removed all viruses already, I also tried that command yesterday through the link you sent me. It still doesn't work :/ I really appreciate your help let me say that as well and anybody's help. Is there anything else we may try? Either way I will do that option again. Command solution then run a scan.

Get this while it is free offer at the moment (1 day remaining) MiniTool Power Data Recovery Personal 7 (100% Discount)
We might use it (I am not sure if it will help, but nice to have nevertheless) if it turns into a data recovery scenario.

Also copy paste and write by hand that command in case typos and such.

I even tried to change the priority of my HDDs in the beginning by accessing BIOS so may the laptop start up as the Windows XP and not the Windows 7 Ultimate which I am currently running.
