I am having trouble with a Gigabyte motherboard. I took everything out of an old case to put it all in a new one except now when i go to boot up i get stuck at a black screen saying "loading operating system..." I have tried changing the boot priority of the drives and changing the geometry from auto to LBA but so far nothing has worked. I've also tried to boot and reinstall Windows 7 from the disk but the installation always fails with an error message. I've tried to do a repair from the disk and it says that ther boot manager is missing or corrupt and attemps and says succecfully completes a repair. Still the same message when trying to boot.

Also are you positive that the new cases mobo standoffs are in the correct location for your mobo? I recently had a similar issue and this turned out to be the problem.

Maybe before updating the bios:

remove all but 1 stick of ram from the #1 slot
remove all sata cables except C drive
remove and re-seat GPU or if you have a mobo with onboard remove GPU and change display cable to mobo
remove and re-seat all power pins 24 pin and 6/8 pin cables

OK, first of all, there is no reason at all to mess with the BIOS. All you're changing is the CASE -- which has nothing to do with the BIOS on the motherboard.

Second, you mentioned "drives" -- presuming you have more than one actual physical hard drive, right?

How about drive connections -- are these PATA or SATA? This board has both -- are you using both?

I would try booting with only the OS boot drive connected -- and seeing if that works.

Also, the Repair can take as many as three passes to fix everything related to the boot process. IF you only ran it once or twice, that might not be enough.

Try going into bios and reseting the boot order and while there see what mode your sata controller is in (IDE, AHCI or Raid), Make sure you are in the same mode you were before the swap. Also, make sure your ram frequenct, timings and voltages are correct. Many times when you remove the motherboard it resets bios.
