Solved Location Not available - Incorrect Parameter

Hi,
So I'm trying to access a dead external through my PC, and everytime I click the drive, I get a message saying parameter is incorrect.

I've done some googleing and apparently this code may help recover it chkdsk /f /r /c x:.



Will this delete the contents of the drive?
Any other suggestions

Hey Mitch,

The command Chkdsk X: /f /r /c (where X is a chosen drive letter) will scan through a volume, repair bad sectors and fix disk errors. It won't delete any data off your drive.

The Chkdsk command is a good general fix for disk problems such as you describe.

I didn't end up doing that, as every time I booted Pc it ask if I wanted to do a disk scan, and so did.

It kinda deleted everything tho.
It put the in a hidden folder with a file .chk file format, but I'm slowly recovering her stuff.
