Hi:
I run the backup program, SyncBackSE which among other things backs up files on a thumbdrive. SyncBackSE has been configured to see the thumbdrive as F: but occasionally Windows decides to name it G: and SyncBackSE then fails. Is there a way to tell Windows to lock it to F:? Thanks.

Thanks. Yes, I know how to do that, but Windows will change it depending on the order in which I insert USB devices. I did just discover a long term solution since SyncBackSE allows me to backup to/from a drive label instead of a drive letter. This means SyncBackSE will work correctly regardless of what drive letter Windows assigns

For such things you should start at the bottom, Z Y X, etc for drive letters. These are less likely to be shared when inserting new drives and devices.

Thanks. That's interesting. I'll have to remember that

It should grab F each and everytime, unless something else is using F. That's how Windows 7 works by default. If you decide to use another letter towards the end, it will retain that letter as well.
