So, recently Steam has decided to throw a Disk Write Error when updating Left 4 Dead and the error is
[2016-02-01 16:58:44] AppID 500 update canceled : Failed to create install base folder f:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\ (Disk write failure)
Now, before I go writing to Steam and asking what is wrong with their program I wanted to be sure it really wasn't my hardware, the HDD, having issues. But, if I remember last time, CHKDSK is a very long tedious user intensive program. I couldn't set and forget and read a report later, I had to be there answering questions from it for the entire process. Is there a set and forget, give me a detailed report later, alternative to CHKDSK that will try to recover all bad sectors and lock them out automatically with out having to ask me for each one? Thank you for your time.
