Looking for a Universal Remote; Questions

something under $100, I've been looking at the Logitech Harmony 550 but I'm really open to suggestions from those who have any experience. I'm also going to need an infrared extender (the 3mm one that came with my HP doesn't work God knows why ) So I guess I should get a USB one?

I'd appreciate any advice

OK, Someone else can probably give you more info on that, I only use mine for media center on the computer.

Hi Opsy

This is a great remote. It has an incredible database of codes built in (including codes for the RC6 type media center remotes), will allow you to program Macros (multiple commands from 1 button press) and, it sends both IR and RF commands at the same time with a very strong signal for both.

I have the RF receiver in front of the HTPC and Audio System, which is located behind the seating area in the back of the room and the IR grabs the TV in front. Even the IR signal is so strong I do not have to aim the remote at anything. Be sure to read the reviews.

I have a Logitech Harmony 670 (at least I think that is what it is). I use it for my TV, xbox360, and home theater system. For the most part, it's really nice. However, I have kids that often just push the physical buttons to turn on the equipment and shut it off. Therefore, the remote is often out of phase with my equipment. So, I'll press the button to watch TV and my TV will then shut off...because as far as the remote knew, it was OFF and needed to be turned on. That's my only real complaint.

I've had it for over 2 years and love it. The only nit to pic is the red backlight screen. But, the logical layout of the buttons makes actually seeing the screen unnecessary.

I have also have an HP and the audio jack, plays music in one head phone. My Ex has an HP, the HDMI port doesn't work. My Ex-BF has a HP, the mic jack doesn't work. So your not the only one.
