Looking for drivers for Win 7 64-bit Gateway GT5056

  1. First, the Gateway support page for the GT5056 is gone.
  2. Second, the original drive crashed so I had to get a new one (same model), and in the process, upgrade from Win XP to Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  3. The PC locks up after about every 10 minutes. Lockups are frequent.

Can someone help me find the drivers and how to install them? And what order to install them?

Thank you.

You can get to Gateway support for the GT5056 from here:
Drivers & Downloads

Click on Select my product from a list
Then select Desktops / GT Series / GT5056

Unfortunately Win 7 is not a supported OS, so you might not be able to use Win 7 on the PC.
You can get the XP drivers, and see if you can somehow get them to work with Win 7.

You could also try Speccy (free) portable to see what it shows for Motherboard info.
Speccy - Builds

If it shows a Chipset Vendor and Model, such as NVIDEA, you could try finding a Win 7 driver from the Chipset Vendor site that works for you.
The Chipset driver is the most important driver to get working right first.

I couldn't find the OEM Windows XP CD so I just bought Win 7. Thanks for the driver links though.

Just for anyone else using your link to us.gateway.com, my desktop is under the GT series, not the 5000 series.

I don't know where or if you can get XP install media.

I filtered the gateway support list like this to see the GT5056.
That's what i posted in post #2 as "Then select Desktops / GT Series / GT5056".

I have Windows 7 and 10 on a Gateway GT5404, (originally a Vista box) no driver issues at all, nor should you. :)

See if Vista was supported and use those drivers, they are the same thing.

There is no order to install them, but the network drivers have to be installed to get online.

Thanks all for your help. I found I had a loose monitor cable, half the pins were not even connected. After connecting the monitor cable I did a 1 hour test and no problems so far with Win 7. I should have checked that first, but normally I screw in all screws (like for monitor cables) every time I reassemble it.

Glad to see you got this fixed.
If you haven't done so already, I would look at Device Manager to make sure there are no errors.
