Lots of Windows7 Problems

From the command prompt type the following:

CHKDSK C: /F /R

This is assuming that drive C: is your system drive. After entering that you will be advised that chkdsk will run at the next boot. Have patience, it will take awhile, but it should help.

Ok. I ran CHKDSK on my C: drive but it said everything was fine. I save most of my stuff on my E: drive. How can I run that? I tried doing by: Computer => E: => Properities => Tools => Check Now but it wants me to dismount. I don't know what that is. Should I do it?

Or are there any other ideas?

When multiple computer problems occur and the usual troubleshooting methods do not solve them, then it's sometimes best to just bite the bullet, i.e., back up all critical files, wipe the HD, and reinstall Windows and all applications.

I'd like to leave that as a last resort. Any other ideas?

EDIT: Another thing I recently noticed. I tried running Malwarebytes again. And three times it has hung and crashed at the same file. It's at: C:\Windows\system32\zipfldr.dll

Could this be the culprit? Additionally, I tried installing my old favourite, Spybot Search & Destroy which is meant to be Windows 7 compatible (List of Spyware Protection Software Compatible with Windows 7 - Mysticgeek’s Realm) yet it installed and then would not run.

Run Memtest86+, and also SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes in safe mode - update, reboot, full system scan.

Can't see changes made to folders until I manually refresh (Ctrl R)
I had this issue awhile back also where if i deleted pictures and they would not dispear until i press F5 inside where i am at.
Go into the folder or view folder and when you make changes. Click on an empty white spot in the windows explorer and right click. For me i saw this option saying to [Clear Changes] and i selected it. It briefly paused and all the pictures i wanted to delete disappeared. Your problem isn't 100% the same but it sounds like mine so maybe it might help. If you don't see a clear changes, when right clicking on empty space, look for an option that was not there before.

Thats my original thread with the issue if you want to read more into it.

Windows 7, have yet to reinstall :)
Hi,

Frost, how do i run run memtest86+? I downloaded it onto my usb, but when i click the application nothing happens. I also tried to boot from USB, but I'm not sure which option to choose. Also, i tried to run malwarebytes in safe mode. Same thing. Crashed at that same file.

zezasu, I tried to find that option, but there was no change for me. The options didn't change after i renamed a file :(

Any other suggestions?

Do you think it might be possible that a repair install could fix this? Or is that highly unlikely?

Memtest86+ is an .iso - use Imgburn to burn to a blank CD and then reboot. If this is hardware problem a reinstall or repair will not fix it.

It says it's possible to boot from a USB. Is that possible though, if so, would you know how?
