hi all,

i just noticed that my main hard disk (the one with OS) is connected to e-sata port of my mobo dh67bl.

just wondering is it fine to have the main hard disk connected to e-sata port? will the performance of my system fall if the main hard disk is connected to e-sata or shud i connect it with other port (6gb/s).

kindly drop in ur suggestions,

thanks

:)

Hello Ray,

Being connected to a eSATA port is basically the same as being connected directly to the motherboard's SATA port, and will perform the same.

Most HDDs are not even able to reach the bandwidth speeds of SATA2, so you will most likely not see any performane gain by connecting it to a 6gb/s SATA3 port.

However, since this is a OS HDD, it would be better to have the HDD installed internally instead of externally to prevent it from being accidentally disconnected or powered down while in use. That is unless you have a need for it to be external. :)
