Make / Add to Jump / MRU List?

In general, I’m not sure if it’s called a Jump List, or MRU list but I’d like to add to / rebuild one.

l use the list that comes up when I right click on a program in the Task bar, such as Windows Explorer. I use it a lot. The problem is it often just disappears at random, especially in Windows Explorer, which is the list I use the most. And it did it again today. It’s my memory on how to find things… And for directories I don’t often visit, so half the time I don’t remember where they are.

I’ve Google this but didn’t find anything specific to what I want to do; most are trying to clear the list which is opposite to what I want. Going to a specific location over and over again until it comes back really isn’t an option IMHO.

Any ideas on how to do this, easily (as in not with programming?)

That's correct. It's called a jump list.

Just to confirm, did you pin to list the recent item?

Hi Brink. Yes and No on the pinning. I had 5 or so pinned. The non-pinned list, however, reached from the bottom of my 2560x1440 monitor to almost the top of it.

I checked out your link, thanks. Dragging a folder icon as described does pin it to the Windows Explorer pinned list, but when I un-pin it, instead of it moving down to the Frequent section (called Recent in the link), it goes away. Disappears… It wouldn’t drag down, either.

Anyway to get it to stay in Frequent/Recent? That’s the area that is more important to me as it’s a ‘living’ list that evolves fairly constantly.

I suppose you could test increasing the number of recent items to display in jump lists like below to see if it may remain.

I think you’re on to something there, Brink. I was thinking that Jump list items would just fall off the bottom when full, like Caller ID stuff does on my phones. Maybe it just clears itself out when full…?

I did the tip in your link and jacked up the list length to the max of 60. Oddly, it was set to 31; don’t know how or why.

I do occasionally go thru the list and Remove items no longer needed and noticed the list never got shorter.

Is there a way to view the entire list that you’re aware of? That would be handy I guess.

Since the List self-clearing is at random times, months apart, we’ll have to wait and see if the increase in list size help.
