Make folders not show contents?

How can I make the folders not show the contents of it. I mean like how i see folders within the folder, or a bunch of pictures, ect.

Select the content of the folder, right-click, properties, select hidden, ok.

By default the Icons, Tiles, and Content settings have the folder icon as an open folder with little thumbnails of whatever's in that folder sort of "spilling out" so you can see them. To change this, right click in the folder area, go to View, and select either List or Details.

Yea but is there a way that it doesnt do that when viewing as large icons too?

I knew that would work, but im wondering if I could just make it do the folders, not the pictures too.

Oh, for that i'm not sure... you might have to swap out the icon file used by Windows for folders in thumbnail mode. And I dunno how to do that :/

Yea thats why. I have replaced it with a leopard style folder using TuneUp Utilities, and it works in thunbnail mode, and in list/detail mode, but not when its large icons, med, ect.

Hello Michael,

The only workaround that I know for this is to replace the individual folder icon for each and every folder that you do not want a thumbnail previews on for without disabling thumbnails views for all files and folders. It will work in all icon view modes. Of course this is really only easy to use/do if you want to do this with a few folders and not all of them.

Nah its ok for now. Im just going to search the registry. When you look at it, some of the things are quite obvious.
