Make Windows 7 Ultimate x64 "liter/smaller"

problem!
After i wanted to instal win7 which i made smaller by vlite, prbolem is after the proces windows is loading files(before i selected which language to install) i get error that there are no drivers and that i can browse for them!

tried to browse them on win7 rtm that is full(since i had extracted iso of win7 full before) but it says that it cant find any drivers there...

That should tell you, using vLite is not going to work. Forget trying to make Windows 7 smaller, it is a worthless quest.

interesting..before there was no problem with it, I remember that I managed to pass win7 installation even thought I set parameters like serial, language to install..

New error(this time I havet touched unattend), the error is at the end of installation, so after computer had restarted and when it says finishin instalation:
Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware.

if you really MUST try something like this here's what I would do --and actually it has a chance of working.

1) Download vmware player version 3 it's FREE.
2) Now create / install W7 as a VIRTUAL MACHINE -- this will be fairly small -- probably around 8 - 9 GB on a .VHD disk.

3) ==> several methods here. What we need to do next is to do what people call "V2P" conversion. We want to get the Virtual Machine into a form that can run on REAL hardware.

You can either use Acronis via backing up the VM just like a Real machine and then restoring using the Universal Restore. Point the drivers to the Real Machine's Hiberfil.sys or better use a program called "Double Driver" to unload the drivers from your REAL hardware and point to that directory when you use the Universal Restore.

OR use vmware's conversion tool (download FREE from the site) - this also works but is a bit trickier and needs to temporarily load a lot of stuff to your "C" partition while its working -- if like me you have a fairly small W7 partition this method will probably fail.

Don't of course install anything on your small system you don't need -- you should be able to get a very adequate W7 system EASILY into a 14 GB partition.

(Installing W7 directly on Real Hardware usually makes for a bigger system than creating a W7 system from a Virtual machine via V2P processes).

Things like Vlite are essentially history

If you need a "Thumbnail" type OS consider the zillions of Linux distros out there.

Yeah but...
It will still have media center, extra languges, sideshow,games etc etc..

I dont need this lite version for my pc(althought I am testing it on my machine) I need it for secondary machine; specs:
Athlon 3800+
1Gb ram(2x512, will extend if needed to 4x512)
x1300 gpu
320gb hdd(maxtor hdd, fastes out there back in 2008, it still faster than some hitachi hdds

I don't need aero and other "nicey effects" but will try that and if there will be problems I will remove it

Yeah linux excellent idea(Ubuntu is turbo fast but too bad I have several apps installed that wont run on linux(buiness apps+office is much better than open office org)
