Making folders come up Full Screen

Some of my desktop folders come up about 1/2 screen when I click on them.
How do I make them ALL come up full screen? Thanks

Hi popporge, welcome to Windows Seven Forums

Right click on the Desktop folder icon & on the drop down menu select Properties, under the Shortcut Tab you will see Run & alongside that there is little down arrow, this opens 3 options. The first is Normal Window, the second is Minimised & the third is Maximised. So select that one that desktop folder should now open maximised.

After you open the file in the folder, drag it to the top of the screen, from then on it will always open full screen.

Unfortunately I do not have a shortcut key in most of my desktop folders.

Did you follow the directions I posted. Right Click on the desktop folder & at the bottom of the drop down menu is Properties, select that & it should have a series of tabs & one of those is the Short Cut one. There is no key as you have mentioned.

Have you tried AddRAM's solution as well, in Post #3

Maximized

1. Right click on the Windows Explorer icon on the Taskbar
2. Right click on the Windows Explorer icon in the list
3. Click on Properties in the context menu
4. Click on the Shortcut tab in the Windows Explorer Properties window
5. Select Maximized in the Run: drop-down list

Well I think I finally got it. Thanks for all the help, especially lehnerus2000 for finally leading me in the right direction.

What are you talking about ? You open the folder then click on the file to open it, then you do what you`ve been told to have it always open maximized.

Well addram, maybe you could be more specific. I thought I had finally solved it, but that didn't work either. Let me explain more specifically what I am talking about. I have multiple folders or should I say icons that appear on my home screen when I log in, such as my bank or facebook or my mail etc.
I used to be able to just double click on any one of these and they would come up on a full screen, then I would work with them. Now, most of them come up 1/2 screen and then I have to click up in the corner to maximize them. Obviously something I did along the way caused this, but I don't know what it was. As far as having a shortcut key, it does not come up with most of my icons.

popporge. If you don't have a Shortcut Tab when you right click on the Icon on your Desktop & select Properties, then the program is in your Desktop Library.

To fix this locate your Desktop Folder which is located under Favourites. Open it & find the program that is in question & right click on the program itself & on the drop down menu select Send To Desktop (create shortcut) & this will put a new Icon on your desktop. Now if Right Click on that Icon & select Properties you should have a Shortcut Tab.

When you have got all that working you can delete the old Icon from your desktop.

Also note there's a difference between Full Screen and Maximized. Full Screen is accomplished by pressing F11, gets rid of most of the Toolbars to give as large a view as possible. Pressing F11 again returns to previous view.

On my PC:

• Windows sometimes ignores the "Maximized" setting
• Window Snapping sometimes confuses Windows ("Show windows stacked" is particularly bad for this)

I'd never tried that in Windows Explorer.
It never even occurred to me to do so.

And there it was a communication, or should I say wording issue on your part. Your title says folders, then you change the story to icons, they are 2 separate things. As explained some programs open in a window that can not be changed. I hope your issue has been resolved

No it is not resolved. I've tried everything suggested and nothing works. It could very well be my knowledge of programs is just not extensive enough. I appreciate all the help, but I think I'll just give up for now and hit the maximize button. Thanks for your help.
