Many failed windows updates

i have many failed updates, including ie 11 - error code 9C59. have done a lot of research; one thing i tried doing was uninstalling my antivirus for the time being, to try and see if the update would work - no go. i read up on a thread of the same situation on this forum between rogerh2 and noeldp, and read that the problem was fixed. hopefully you can do the same with mine noel. thank you

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

ok... my cbs.zip file is a total 75.7 MB. only 2 of the 5 .cab files are under 8 MB. i'm not exactly sure what you mean by removing the older ones until the final file is below the limit. can you be a little more specific on what to do? i attached a screen shot of the contents in the cbs.zip file. also, i followed the 5 steps on the "Windows Update Posting Instructions". the only problem i had was not being able to see a screenshot of where to find the error codes - i also attached a screenshot of that. thanks for your patience.

Yeesht! I suspect that any useful data in the Persist files will be unavailable to me anyhow - usually, a 15MB cab file extracts to around 400MB - which is more than my text editor can handle (and I don't like trying to use Word for this job!)
Please just post the CBS.log and one of the smallest CBSPersist files - or any new CBSPersist file created since 11:20 on 17/4

attached are 2 zips: one contains the cbs.log file and one of the small .cbs files, the other zip contains the other small .cbs file. they were created on the 15th and 16th - is that ok or should i run the tool again to get updated .cbs files?

There's no errors in the SFC - the major error in the IE install appears to be this...

Funny - I would have expected CheckSUR to have complained about the file in the first line of my snippet above.

However - let's have a look at the registry and see whats (not?) there...

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

Here are some instructions to make life easier
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.
