mazuki.dll - should I delete it?

My system is running fine with Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. Both Spybot - Search & Destroy and Malwarebytes' Antimalware are up-to-date and say I have no problems. I discovered a file named mazuki.dll in my C:/ProgramData folder. I am reluctant to double-click on it, and Properties reveals little more than "opens with Microsoft Register Server". Google shows many dubious looking sites suggesting it is some kind of threat, but I would prefer guidance from a trustworthy forum like this one. So could some kind souls please shed some light on the validity or otherwise of mazuki.dll please?

PJC, that doesn't appear to be a Windows system file, but more likely a file belonging to a piece of malware or a virus. I would not just delete the file. Proper way would be scan and remove the virus correctly.

I would wait for advice from some of the Seven staff as to what to do next. I'm not sure what the forum rules are regarding virus removal.

But I`ve also found different opinions such as this:
We received the files of mazuki.dll on 9.1.2011 and detected it is a rogue anti-spyware program. mazuki.dll file size of the samples we received is unknown bytes. mazuki.dll is a critical system problem that is commonly caused by an unstable system registry or corrupt system files that are required to run Windows smoothly. This must be fixed immediately to prevent further problems to your data, applications and hardware.

I agree with Fred, do some more research b4 dealing with it as it could do more harm than good.

Thank you for much for your replies. As far as I can tell, this file is doing nothing. msconfig.exe shows it is not in Windows startup, CCleaner shows no problems with my registry, and a utility I use called Process Explorer 15.11 proves it is not running whatsoever. My instinct still says I should delete it, but I am very interested to see what other comments this matter gets on this forum.

I have uploaded mazuki.dll to 3 virus-checking websites and it almost universally was deemed non-threatening. Only something called eSafe called it a suspicious file. So I have deleted it, but currently retained in Recycle Bin. I suspect it was part of a vendor's attempt to get me to register their software. Best wishes to everybody, though I am still open to receiving your comments on this matter.

Download and do a full scan with Malwarebytes. When it completes, don't let it remove anything, but save and attach the log it generates. Or copy and paste the content of the log into another post.
