Find me, and I'll tell you
I'm in deep trouble with this one. My craptop is basically ruined. I boot up and get the following:

boot0: MBR
boot0: (something, I forget)
This volume is not compatible (something like that)
Press any key to reboot.

WTF is going on here? I'm so frustrated I could switch to mac!

I had to run twice .. once to repair .. then again to fix the MBR ???

But this was after I attempted to perform an Image recovery using an Acroins backup.
Good luck .. I'll keep my fingers crossed

Didn't work.

Here's exactly what appears on the screen;

boot0: MBR
boot0: done
Non-system disk
Press any key to reboot

Unfortunately, this is my system disk. The repair thingy even detected Windows. It says that it can( find anything wrong.

How long have you had Server 2008? Was it working perfectly fine until you installed that? Did you change your booting sequence in BIOS?

Yeah it was fine. I never had a problem with it (or a use for it).

I solved the problem. Installed XP. I will install 7 after school's out. It's hard screwing up my computer and doing schoolwork at the same time. XP runs great on here, anyway.

Did you get W7 installed?

All:
The question here has to do with the F12 key to select boot device. After upgrade from Vista to W7, this key stopped functioning. This means that I cannot boot from a CD even after setting the F2 boot priority as CD first.

I have tried all the F keys, Delete and a few others. NG

Anyone have an answer to this?

operator error on MY part.

I had set the boot seq for USB CDROM as the first rather than the internal CD.

Now I can boot from CD with F12 key during the Acer splash.

BUT, still cannot boot using the Repair Disk Windows 7 32-bit

I'm sure I can, but don't want to run an instal - just a Repair

I finally got the System Restore CD to run and ran the Repair. Says all is good. But was looking for a way to re-load the dotnet Framework 3.5 SP1 since I DELETED IT ALL while chasing why I had Update fails of 0x8007371B.

You can repair form install DVD as well as Repair CD.

Just turn on Windows Update and if it needs the Net Framework Service Pack it will deliver it to you, possibly under optional which is where goodies like drivers also come through.

Thanks! will give it a try.

Have been running the System File Checker to check the build. First run result was 7,325kb, second run 378kb.

From the report, the system knows there was a fault and many repairs were made, not just to Framework.

However, still can't get Framework back.

But, I will try with the install CD.

Boot from the original install as Repair has the same operations as the System Restore.

And that could not find any problem either.
Don't want to go thru a re-install. have near 250k files and many apps

Sounds like MS needed. Will submit.
thanks for the info!
