Microsoft silently preparing your PC for Win 10

My point was you can hide and block an unwanted update. Microsoft is not forcing you to install this update in question, nor are they forcing you to install Windows 10.

I didn't actually say they were forcing them on anyone.
Just that they've been a little vague in their descriptions. And if they're pushed to a novice user who just installs every update and it negatively impacts your system then it becomes a problem.

Anyone is entitled to use whatever euphemism one likes. As far as I am concerned these updates that are being sneaked in, some even as "Important", which are not necessary to the proper functioning of Windows 7, or even W 8 for that matter, is a sneaky and underhand activity by Microsoft.

It's just as said preparing for upgrading.

I've left feedback for Microsoft on numerous occasions on leaving their site (at their request) that their descriptions of updates could be much more informative instead of the generic write ups they do give. If they did do this maybe people wouldn't be so up in arms about these updates now, nobody knows exactly what they're for or what they're going to do. I know Windows 10 will not be able to overwrite anybody's current install without being given permission by the user, but some users may think it's a good idea without being completely informed about what Windows 10 is. Maybe these updates will tell them nearer to the date.

I may reintroduce them just to see what gives.

I have two spare W7 OEM licenses at least one of which will be upgraded to W10 so I may install one on my second SSD and install the updates and see what happens. I want W10 on that drive anyway so it won't matter, at least I could document the upgrade process (even though I'd much prefer a clean install).

As far i am concerned, i do prefer hiding those updates for Windows 7, not rejecting what MS is doing on my back but just because with my actual hardware, i won't load Windows 10. I have enough to do with all those updates and hotfixes around for 7.

Windows 10 have to be a new gen OS on a new machine with the proper hardware i choose, which might not be same kind of mounting as my actual that would become a backup computer. Gonna cost me few $$$$ sooner or later, anyway.

Hardware is only not compatible because M$ is stuck in the mobile first world adding new Unneeded hyper state crapware
Otherwise it in general works well,
But M$ doesn't care about desktops as far as I can tell otherwise M$ would do away with these new features when a battery is not needed to run it

I don't know how they're missing that a phone Lock Screen is completely redundant and idiotic on a desktop. I have submitted feedback, posted it in MVP channels, and guess we're going to have to raise more of a fuss.

Surprisingly enough killing the lock screen in group policy actually slows booting down not speeding it up

I suppose M$ is really looking at business environments than home to constitute a lock screen,
But simply logging out does the same thing really beside broadcasting alerts email address to anyone with access to the room

Bah, that's resume well we are entering a new Microsoft age. That's remembering me how i gently had a smile the day i went in services.msc to disabled the WWAN configuration service, sure i need that one on my heavy weighted 7 desktop PC!

Mike I have it Enabled to not show Lock screen in Policy but still getting it since I upgraded to latest build.

I don't like having to use a mouse to toss the Lock Screen up, then put in my password. It's like a cartoon where there are a dozen doors to get through.
